Random Wonderful Moments

It's been a wonderful five days in Onishi! The artists I have the pleasure of being                      with are talented, smart and funny. Many of them speak several languages.

We've been biking, walking, swimming, shopping, working, cooking and getting to                   know the town and each other.

Kjell is the founder of the residency.

Perfect evening for a party!

Sunday night birthday party for Natsuka! Good food, fireworks and a bonfire.

I prepared an American style potato salad for the birthday party.

Mark and Niek checking out our wood shop. We can use the shop and all the tools anytime.

Birthday girl Natsuka and her son 3 year old Yotaro.

Indra, Marie, Kjell and Mark at the river. The town of Onishi is surrounded by rivers on 3 sides.

This old boy is Tao. He's a stray that comes around. He is terribly sweet and handsome.

Irene and Indra cooking dinner in our amazing kitchen.

Jeannie, Irene and Neik buying groceries at a neighborhood market.

Jeannie, Irene, Indra, Me and Marie. Niek is holding the cup. We are drinking a liquor made from fermented apricots by Hiro's grandfather. The shelves behind us are filled with cups and bowls created by former artists in residence. We use them at every meal.
