Batter Up! The baseball issue.

Many of you know that Mack and I are huge baseball fans. So, when you go to Japan, you find a  game!!!!!

Katsu took Michael and me to a professional baseball game at the Seibu Dome. It is the home of the Saitima Lions. It was a really good game. Tied for awhile, then our team won with a 2 run homer.

Japanese baseball rules are the same, perhaps not as many as the American game, but the feeling is quite different. In Japan, the fans are like football fans. They have cheering squads, rally songs and chants. It's noisy as hell. And then, it will get so quiet, you can hear a chopstick drop.

There are pretty little vendors. Women who look 'bout 12 years old jog up and down the stadium steps with keg backpacks dispensing ice cold beer. And they bring you ice cream. The food, of course, is part of the experience. Noodles, takoyaki, bento boxes, hot dogs and fries are just a few of the gastro delights!

Fans are loyal. They do not get up during a play, nor do they leave early. And, here's a most amazing thing. At the end of the 6th inning, stadium workers carry large garbage bags around for all the trash and recyclables. They do it again after the 7th. The stadium is clean at the end of the game. Hey, America....there's an idea. (insert eye roll emoji)

Kazu is a big fan of the Saitawa Lions. He grew up in the neighborhood around that area.

Seibu Dome and eager fans.

The archetecture is very modern. There is an area between the dome ceiling and the seating and the stadium is surrounded by trees. Feels almost like being in a huge tree house.

Um....

No, I didn't eat both of them. I could have.

Beer Girl.

Don't come between Michael Le Blanc and his dog.

I dunno....I just think hot dogs are better at a ball game.

Play ball!!!!
